The Solution
Médiapost outlined non-negotiable criteria for its
solutions, including ease of integration, openness, and
ease of installation and deployment. After a survey phase
and initial demonstrations during the NetWorld Interop
show, Médiapost selected
eTrust Admin
and
eTrust
Single Sign-On from Computer Associates International,
Inc. (CA). These solutions, eTrust Admin in
particular, allow various directories to co-exist,
including LDAP, Novell, Sybase database directories, UNIX
database directories and the restriction directories of
proprietary applications. eTrust Admin incorporates
native connectors and a Software Development Kit,
facilitating access to the company's databases and
directories. With the prospect of closer partner
cooperation and the extension of its network to a number
of sites, simplifying the administration of user account
access was also important. "CA provided us with a global
solution, unlike the other two software vendors we
consulted," commented Tassel. The management of user
passwords has been improved by unifying logins.
CA's
consulting team helped Médiapost implement eTrust
Admin, automating its user administration processes. Two
specific connectors were developed: one for Sybase and the
other for LDAP, providing administration coverage of the
entire Médiapost environment. Médiapost referenced
servers, workstations and user passwords. "Furthermore,
eTrust Admin helped us to recover accounts for
inactive users on each of our computers," said Tassel.
"The help we had from CA quickly allowed us to acquire
expertise on our new security platform."
Médiapost realized benefits almost immediately,
including the modification of passwords at frequent
intervals, a simplified system access and a better
end-user experience. eTrust Admin also provided
Médiapost with a centralized accounts management system,
providing global visibility over the rights granted to
users. "eTrust Admin and eTrust Single
Sign-On allow us to save time while reinforcing the
general security of our information system," said Tassel.
"In our current context of closer cooperation with other
companies, eTrust Single Sign-On plays an
essential security role."
By the end of 2003, all PCs will benefit from this
tool, making it easier for the users to do their work and
gather information.
