covers workstations throughout an organization, eTrust Antivirus can
be called upon.
Part of the eTrust security family, this anti-virus solution has
built its reputation on usability, detection, disinfection and quality
support, with regular updating of both virus antidotes and signature
files. This solution offers both remote and local installation, so you
can determine at the time of installation which offers the best
option, depending on the size of your enterprise.
Again, like many other solutions, eTrust Antivirus provides a
Windows-style GUI that is easy to both use and navigate and doesn’t
take long to familiarize yourself with - important if you don’t want
to spend months learning how to use it to its optimum. The benefits
include a truly scaleable solution for the larger SME that intends to
go on to bigger things and needs corporate protection that will grow
with it.

VERDICT As a serious
anti-virus solution this product does come up to a
pretty high spec, with ease of use, perfect
performance and a host of features worth exploring. |

During our round of arduous tests eTrust Antivirus provided the
type of results that we have come to expect throughout the years. It
delivered a perfect score during Test 1 and similarly sailed through
Test 2 to provide 100 percent returns. In our third test against the
onslaught of 1,012 polymorphic viruses it again ran into no problems
whatsoever and carried its so-far perfect score into Test 4 against
our second division viruses.
These are the ones that may not be in the current in-the-wild
list as they have dropped off, or they may only be listed in a
subsidiary category (as for example a virus only affecting a small
part of the world or having only been picked up by one reporter).
These do usually end up on the main list at some point and should be
protected against, and eTrust Antivirus didn’t let us down, sweeping
all 226 to finish with 100 percent detection.
The macro test offered no resistance and once again a perfect
score was achieved, leaving just the speed test where eTrust delivered
an amazing two-second result for speed, putting it up there
with the fastest products in the test.
